IATD Partners with Tenants to Launch Tenants Against Predatory Towing TAPT
IATD has been working with tenants across South Carolina who have been victimized by the notorious Chris Cole of Cole Towing. After launching the site, Tenants Against Predatory Towing (TAPT) with founder, Polly Booker, a concerted effort by tenants in low-income housing spoke out at both City and County Council meetings to ask that his business license be revoked or at the minimum, suspended.
TAPT banned together and protested in front of the County Council Meeting space to rid their community from Cole Towing who’s illegal towing methods robbed consumers, especially targeting the disenfranchised, and persons on a fixed income of their income. Alledgedly Chris Coley used dishonest practices that let to robo towing, sometimes taking multiple vehicles from a single family.
Coles Towing has since changed its name to Southern Pride Towing to no avail.
Tenants Against Predatory Towing (TAPT) was founded to counteract the guerrilla tactics of illegal towers. Having successfully ridding our community of an oppressive, tow crew with a violent past, we offer SUPPORT to other communities. Start a chapter now.
